This weekend, I headed to Brighton to take part in a succulent wreath making workshop with HiCacti, located just behind the beautiful Maple Café on Seven Dials. HiCacti was created by the lovely Sabina, who hand casts concrete pots that are then custom painted & filled with every type of cacti & succulent that you could imagine. The studio interior is an ode to Mexico, with Frido Kahlo prints, cactus lights & fiesta bunting adorning the space.
As a self confessed succulent obsessive; combining these with something festive made for the perfect workshop. This was my first wreath making class, so learning the basics was key to starting the process. Once we had learnt how to de-pot the succulents to ensure they would survive until Christmas (think cling film & lots of twine), we were able to begin the making process. After our plants had been secured, we then started decorating the wreaths with a beautiful selection of festive foliage, filling the gaps with fresh moss (lovely). Most of us went for the more is more approach, layering all kinds of dried leaves, berries & copper sprayed pine cones.
The whole process was so enjoyable & I love the end result as it's entirely festive & completely unique to me. I'm hoping to head back to HiCacti soon to pick up some of the lovely pots for my ever growing collection of plants!
